Six days is a comfortable starting point for this route without turning it into a race. If you want more time around Erhai, an extra night in Shaxi, or a slower finish in Lijiang, the journey can be extended to seven or eight days.
What is the best time to visit Dali, Shaxi and Lijiang?+
This part of Yunnan can be visited through much of the year, but the experience changes with the season. Weather, mountain visibility, rain and temperature can all affect the feel of the route, so we help adjust the plan around your travel dates.
Do I need to speak Chinese?+
